1. Register your domain name
This is where it all starts.
A domain name (also known as an 'internet name', 'web name' or just a 'domain') is your unique home on the internet. Domain names are granted through registration, which gives you the legal right to use the name for as long as you maintain the registration. As no two people can own the same name, they can be very valuable, so early registration is advised even if you are not yet ready to use it!
 

   

2. Get your domain name hosted
In order to receive services like a website and email for your domain name, you need to find a 'web host'
This is space that you ‘hire’ on the internet to enable you to store graphics and code required to present a website, and space to receive emails. You can thnk of it as renting a shop window where you can display your goods or services. With web hosting, your website address is simply your domain name, eg www.yourdomain.com. We will advise and select the most appropriate package for you, only allocating the space and services YOU NEED, but generally speaking we’ll provide you with the necessary amount of web space and a number of customisable email addresses for your domain, so you can send and receive email as 'you@yourdomainname.com'.

 

3. Build your website
We cant deny, you can design and build your own website ...
There is a lot of software out there which enables you to do so, but where many people fall down is making their site compatible with the ever-growing number of internet browsers (Netscape, Firefox, Internet Explorer etc) and then the ever growing versions of these browsers - don‘t assume that what you see on your computer is necessarily the same as what others see. You may have IE version 6 but do you know what it looks like on Netscape version 8 And the biggest problem ... the graphics! We don’t necessarily suggest you employ the services of a web design company for a family or friends website, but we strongly suggest you do if you are a serious business. Your website should be viewd as an essential marketing tool as it presents your business to the world - night and day. Potential clients may compare your site to your competitors, and without an eye-catching, functional and informative site you could be losing key business without even knowing.
